What does the Netherlands do to control flooding?

    Over 60% of the Netherlands is below sea level, so they must have a system that keeps the water from the ocean flooding. The Zuiderzee Works is a man made system of dams, land reclamation, and water drainage works. Its main intention is to dam off the entrance to the North Sea. They also have something called the Delta Works which provides protection from the southwest region of the country. More information can be found below.
