There are two common mulberry trees — the red mulberry and the Asian white mulberry, The red mulberry reaches a height of about sixty-five feet. It has rough bark that is reddish-brown in color. The white mulberry only grows up to forty feet tall. It has lighter, ochre-gray bark. Both trees have leaves that are oval, toothed, and 2-6″ long. The bottom part of the red mulberry leaves feel like sandpaper, and the white mulberry leaves are smooth.
