what does methane gas do to our ozone layer

  1. 0 Votes

Methane gas is a highly harmful green house gas. It traps 20 times the amount of heat that carbon dioxide does. Therefore, it could be a tremendous contributor to global warming even at small levels because it is potent and effective. Its chemical makeup results in more released chlorine from the atmosphere which is the same problem created by CFCs which were banned due to ozone damage. The methane helps create ice clouds which in turn release the chlorine which breaks apart ozone.
