The color and banding or spotting pattern will vary depending on the particular species, but in general they are 2 to 4 feet in length, with a red, black, brown, yellow and/or white banding pattern. Eastern kingsnakes, another variety, have little stripes connecting each band, which is why they may be referred to as the chain kingsnake.
