Ethanol combusts differently and is more corrosive than gasoline, so the entire fuel system design needs to be changed to make a vehicle E85-compatible. The changes are small for a car manufacturer, so the extra cost to effect them is small, and the difference in cost isn’t much on the consumer end. There are E85 conversion kits available online, however, you should not convert your vehicle to E85-compatibility as doing so is illegal, prohibited by the EPA, and could cause you fines or jail time.
