What does the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission do?

    The IOC’s mission is to promote international cooperation in researching and protecting the ocean. The IOC is responsible  for such things as developing tsunami warnings in at risk regions and monitoring the ocean through the Global Ocean Observing System.
