What does improperly-disposed-of antifreeze do to the environment?

When antifreeze is improperly disposed of, the greatest risk it poses is to polluting runoff water and ultimately rivers, lakes, and oceans. However, according to the World Health Organization, there is little evidence that the primary ingredient in antifreeze (Ethylene Glycol) is significantly toxic to environmental systems or life forms.
