    According to their website, the Forest Stewardship Council is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. Their focus is on responsible forest management and use a democratic process to make decisions for issues facing the worlds forests and forest-dependant communities. FSC provides a certification program that has proven to be a credible link between responsible forest production and consumption. The FSC has a presence in more than 50 countries across the globe.
