Most strains of E. Coli are harmless, but one strain, O157:H7, can be harmful. This strain is what most people think of when they think of E. Coli. It can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps and vomiting. Most adults recover from E. Coli without treatment. However, it can lead to life-threatening kidney failure in children and the elderly.
