What does “bushmeat trade” in Africa refer to? Is it illegal?

As many tribes of Africa become urbanised the demand for their traditional foods increases. These are animals that are found in the forests: apes, monkeys, crocodiles, leopards, and even forest elephants. There are many more and much of the trade is illegal because many of the species are endangered. What is much however is that this trade, because of its new mass scale, is increasing and may bring some of these animals’ numbers down into endangered status.
