Ayurvedic is a term that refers to the practice of traditional medicine in India. The word is derived from sanskrit and means knowledge of life. Herbal medicine, massage, and yoga are all considered types of Ayurvedic medicine. It is similar to what westerners consider “alternative medicine”. Yoga is probably the most well known ayurvedic practice and was made even more popular by Elizabeth Gilbert’s New York Times Best Selling book “Eat, Pray, Love” in which she goes to India to practice ayurvedic yoga.
