What does the agreement reached in Copenhagen actually mean for environmentalism?

Officially, there is an agreement that global climate change is a reality. Before Copenhagen, there was an argument between the scientific community and politicians that global climate change did not exist and had been scoffed at by politicians as a major hoax. It is now officially real. For environmentalism this means a step in the right direction and hope for swift change.
