I think political philosophy – which is where I started my ‘training’ in philosophy – functions not so much to inform politics as to inform certaindispositions with regards to those politics. It helps to inform the way in which we approach the field, the way in which structure and prioritize our goals and so on, rather than actaully providing any answers as to ‘what to do’. After all, nobody needs to understand a great deal of political philosophy to do politics.
