Currently most of today’s energy is dominated by petroleum in one form or another. I do not beleive that we will find one perfect energy source that will replace petroleum. I believe we need to built a a sort of patchwork of renewable energy sources utilizing what makes the most sense in the area. Sun for the Southwest, geothermal where there is seismic activity, tidal were there are oceans, wind were it is windy ect ect. We will also have to make everything more efficient, and use less in the future so I believe in addition to the next energy generation being based on non-petroleum products we will have to change our behavior to live with the fact that the next energy generation will not be able to borrow from the future and the past the way petroleum allowed us too.
