The Nissan Leaf is scheduled for release in the U.S. in late 2010. This car has a great deal of potential to become the first EV seen regularly on the roads, especially in its initial target markets of California, Arizona, Tennessee, Washington and Oregon. In these regions of the country infrastructure (charging stations) is being put in place to refuel the vehicles and is supported by grant money from the U.S. Department of Energy. In addition, the Leaf is affordable at only $30,000 and practical with a 100 mile range and short recharging time.
