Food. Our food system relies on oil from production (agricultural machinery, oil derived pesticides) to transportation. The average meals travels 1500 miles and we use more calories of energy to produce and transport food than we get out of the food produced. If oil prices rise due to low supply and demand causing food prices to rise so much that families are struggling to eat, this brews discontent, revolution, and possibly violence. Think about the French Revolution and some of the uprisings in the Middle East.
