Fuel is becoming more and more expensive and thus we need to do what other countries have done and focus on having a good rail system rather than relying on cars and planes. China and England are just two examples of countries that have developed high-speed rail due to high gas prices and congestion and the results have been very successful. The U.S. needs to make high speed rail that is cheaper and faster than the alternative because currently, trains are cheaper and flying is faster. VP Joe Biden announced recently that the government plans to spend $53 billion in the next 6 years on a high speed rail network. I believe once that money is being spent and construction on light speed rail begins the U.S. will soon compete for being the country with the best, cheapest, most efficient high speed rail.
