What I mean is– if it turns out that they actually contribute to global warming, then what is a better use of that land?
The reason scientists have found that some green spaces may be contributing to global warming is the usage of fertilizers and management that is used to keep the spaces looking nice. A better alternative, I believe would be to allow the natural vegetation of the area to grow, without maintaining it in any way. This is natural, and cannot be a bad thing.
