Wolves are carnivorous predators, and hunt anything from moose and elk to smaller mammals like rabbit. They also eat insects, earthworms, plants as well.
In addition to what bemodal said, in times when food is scarce, wolves will sometimes eat other wolves, when one dies or there is a power dispute among the pack. In Alaska and Western Canada, it is also not uncommon for wolves to eat salmon.
