What do birds do when it snows, I have noticed they disappear for a while and come right back?

Some birds migrate south for the winter to get away from the snow and the cold. When it gets cold and snowy, the birds have a hard time getting food, which means they have a hard time keeping warm. To make up for this, they fly south for the winter and return when temperatures begin to climb again.
