Quartz is an igneous rock consisting of silicon and oxygen molecules held together with a crystal pattern. Nowadays industries can manufacture them to be perfect. The primary sector that uses quartz is computer microprocessors and digital watches. Quartz can be coloured or transparent depending on the amount and type of chemicals used.

Quartz is also used for surfaces such as counter tops and swimming pools. This is because it’s one of the hardest and most durable minerals.

Energetically, quartz is used to enhance properties of other gems and precious stones and itself is very healing.  Quartz crystal can be hung in certain places to establish better qi in the realm of feng shui.

Quartz is not a rock per se, it is a mineral that can comprise igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks as either the sole constituent or (more often) part of the rock.
