The utilization of nanotechnology for the environment is still in a developmental stage, but promising uses are:  pollutant detection, resource expansion, and cleansing polluted water bodies.  As nanotechnology develops, there will doubtless be an expansion of knowledge pertaining to how certain atoms and molecules can be contained.  Therefore, some scientists hold the hope of cleansing the earth of pollution through nanotechnology.
