    Soil science is divided into two main branches, pedology and edaphology. Pedology is concerned with the physical properties of soil–its composition, genesis, classification, evolution, and functioning. Edaphology, in contrast, is concerned with the ways in which soil interacts with living things, including fungi and plants, and the ways in which humans use soil
