From my understanding, genuine non-alignment means that a country looks at foreign policy issues on a case by case basis. They do not let ideology get in the way of their decisions. Instead, they look at each case systemically and rationally.
Many seem to confuse non-alignment with neutrality. They are very different. Neutrality is a concept that a country adapts during war time. That they are going to remain out of said conflict. Non-alignment differs greatly from this because it does engage, just on its terms, not others.
