What do sand crabs eat?

Sand crabs are very dissimilar to hermit crabs, and likewise, they have quite a different diet. They feed buried in the sand, grabbing grains of sand with their antennae. Then they clean these grains of organic matter and microscopic plankton, which they consume. This makes them very poor candidates for pets, as you can imagine!
