What do rats eat in the wild?

Apparently rats are much like humans, and are omnivorous, meaning they eat both plants and animals. “Wild rats eat nuts, seeds, grains, vegetables, fruits, insects, worms, eggs, dead animals, and even frogs, fish, reptiles, birds and mammals that they catch and kill.” This is interesting because most people associate rats with eating our waste, but it turns out they are very adept at surviving the wild, and eat a variety of things to survive.
