Opossums are omnivores. Their diet varies according to the seasons. They eat insects, leaves, mushrooms, small vertebrates like rodents and birds, berries, eggs, root vegetables, etc… They also scavenged for dead animals.
Opossums have a varied diet. They eat both plant and animals, including grass, most fruits, carrion, snakes, snails, slugs, worms, rats, mice, amphibians, fish, crayfish, most green and yellow vegetables, roaches, flies, and pet food if it is left out.
