They are herbivores and will not eat meat. They prefer a diet of grass, plants, weeds, shrubs, and herbs. They will eat clothing and garbage if they are starving. There have been cases of goats eating wood.
I found this interesting: goats tend to eat weeds, poison ivy being one of their favorites. Usually, goats have a diet that consists of browse (shrubs, trees, leaves), forbs (weeds) and pasture (grasses and other plants).
Some people will rent out their goats for natural land clearing and weed removal. My friend saw a herd of rented goats clear out some really crazy blackberry bushes. Goats are definitely one of the more fun ways to be green.
