Catfish are bottom feeders which means they mainly scavenge for whatever falls to the bottom of a river or lake bed. Some common staples of the catfish diet include plant material (both terrestrial and aquatic), small aquatic invertebrates, aquatic and terrestrial insects, crustaceans, and smaller fish. Because of the catfishes large range, their diet depends solely on their location.
