According to Amish America, a source for all things Amish, a majority of Amish farms are not organic and use the same pesticides and fertilizers that other framers around the country use. The farmers rely on these artificial enhancers for larger crop yields and to control pests. A small number of Amish farmers do practice organic farming and it is becoming more popular in some parts of the community. The higher prices of organic farming allow a farmer to make more money on a smaller plot of land.
