Anthracnose are common tree diseases that are usually caused by a fungus. They may cause spots on tree leaves. Oak wilt is another fungal disease that can lead to death in oak trees. A relatively new disease, called “oak tatters” is affecting oak leaves, causing them to look torn and stringy. There are also several insects such as oak leaf-eater and leaf-roller that will cause damage to oak trees. Gypsy moths, and tent worms remain common pests to several hard-wood species like oak trees.
