A regular hybrid car uses gasoline for fuel while it uses a battery and motor to increase efficiency. An electric plug-in car uses only electricity to run the entire car. This means that electric cars have no emissions, while hybrids do have emissions but fewer than non-hybrid cars. It takes much longer to refuel/ recharge an electric car compared to a hybrid though. However, the cost to run an electric car compared to a hybrid is much less.
