Monocrystalline cells have somewhat higher efficiencies: 22% in commercial solar cells, with 25% reaches in a lab in the University of South Wales. The highest reported conversion rate for polycrystalline cells is 18.9%, achieved by Mitsubishi in 2009. It should be noted that other technologies claim the highest efficiencies: multijunction solar cells were reported by different research agencies (who are disputing each other’s claims) as 40.8%, 41.1%, and 42.8%.
