The main difference between washing soda and baking soda is it’s chemical formula. Washing soda is Na2CO3 and baking soda is NaHCO3. This means that washing soda is a sodium carbonate and baking soda is a sodium bicarbonate. Washing soda has a high alkalinity and baking soda has a very low alkalinity. One way of looking at it the difference is that Washing soda can burn your skin if you touch it and Baking soda is a great way to neutralize the burn so that it does not continue causing damage.
