Both are important research methods but they have distinct characteristics that are important to understand when compiling information or trying to better understand something. Quantitative properties are presented in the objective form of numbers and statistics while qualitative properties are presented in subjective forms of words, pictures, or objects. Quantitative data can be measured while qualitative data cannot.
