Halibut and flounder are both types of flat fish, but different species. Halibut is the largest of the flat fish, weighing an average 25-30 pounds, but have been caught as heavy as over 700 pounds. The average weight of a flounder is only 2-5 pounds, but have been known to exceed 20 pounds. Their physical appearance is also quite different (check out the links for images).
