Earth Hour was started by the World Wildlife Fund in 2007 to raise awareness for global warming and the need for sustainability. It is a global event that takes place for one hour during the last Saturday of March and is observed by turning off all of one’s lights for the duration of the hour.
Earth Day was first organized in 1970 as a national protest of the environmental degradation occurring in the United States. It has grown to be nationally observed each April 22 and uses the power of people coming together en masse to address specific environmental concerns.
