What did the Mayan people do for water?

    Initially, it is suspected that they had an elaborate water management/irrigation system, and that ultimately, deforestation which lead to water issues and drought is one of the reasons their civilization failed. Some Maya historians hypothesize that the elite actually controlled elaborate reservoir systems, which lead to nonelite households to develop their own extensive well system.
