Well, that all depends on how many times you reuse the plate…every time you use a reusable plate and then wash it, you save one disposable plate. Studies have shown that the environmental costs of using disposable dishware are significantly higher than those of using reusable wares, even when the energy and soap from dishwashers are factored into the equation. And if for whatever reason you can’t use a resuable plate, there are more eco-friendly options, such as compostable and biodegradable plates.
