    You can see by the Natural Resources Conservation Service link below that means two quite different things, and each of them “cover a lot of ground” to put it humorously.

    The second link gets into details. Scroll down to “Formative Elements in Names of the Soil Suborders”, and browse the “Connotation” column. It will occur to you pretty quickly that what’s good for one plant is bad for another.
