Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere; warmer air, or gases, have the ability to be saturated with more moisture than colder ones. Oceans or other large bodies of water comprise the principal source of water vapor, and wind direction is an important factor in the humidity of a certain place.
The actual instrument used by meteorologists to determine humidity is called a dewpoint, or condensation, hygrometer.
