What defines strong sustainability?

    Being considered to have “strong sustainability” take in a lot of factors with regards to ones effect on the environment.  A variety of rankings are given out to various institutions and countries, one of which is the ESI (Environmental Sustainability Index).  This index takes into account factors such as pollution levels, natural resource holdings, green house gas emissions, water quality, and energy production.  Strong sustainability means that you have a minimal negative effect on the environment, and can be helped by decreasing emmisions, increasing alternative energy production, and minimizing the production of waste.
