Metals have good electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, luster, malleability. These qualities separate them from the metalloids and non-metals.
A metal is defined as a substance that is crystalline when solid and is characterized by it’s opacity, ductility, conductivity, and a luster when it is freshly fractured. It is made of positive ions when it is an aqueous solution of its salts. It can also be an alloy of two or more metals on the periodic table.
