The Pocomoke River is the deepest river in the US for its width. Otherwise, the depth of a river changes as it runs its course.

Hells Canyon is located in North American near Oregon.  It is North America’s deepest river gorge.  It is enourmous, and encompasses a vast and remote region with dramatic changes in elevation, terrain, climate and vegetation.  Hells Canyon falls more than a mile below Oregon’s west rim, and 8,000 feet below snowcapped He Devil Peak of Idaho’s Seven Devils Mountains.
