The Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River, in China. This is the world’s largest dam, and it has unarguably a bigger negative impact on the environment than any other dam in history. A major problem is the build up of silt and waste behind the dam, another problem is the weakening of shorelines downstream. The dam has also wreaked havoc on the tributaries that feed the river.
