There are many models that predict future temperatures worldwide, and the typical prediction lies between an increase of 1 degree Celsius and 5.5 degrees Celsius by the year 2100. The mean prediction is an increase of about 3 degrees Celsius. This may not sound like much, but it translates to a rise in sea levels of 20-60 cm, meaning that low-lying cities near water would be permenantly flooded unless they invest in costly water defenses.
