I can’t say with absolutely certainty, but with marijuana topping the US charts at an estimated 35.8 billion in profit in 2005 and corn trailing behind at 23 billion, it would appear that marijuana probably makes the most money per square inch.
Ginseng is also a particularly profitable crop, with wild or wild-simulated ginseng root going for as much as $400/a pound, producing a profit of $0.004/sq inch. It may not seem like a lot, but there aren’t many plants you can grow in one square inch.
