An interesting way of evaluating sustainability/environmentalism in individual countries is done by the Environmental Performance Index (EPI). The 2008 EPI, developed by Yale University and Columbia University, is a method of quantifying and benchmarking the environmental performance of a country’s policies. The system ranked 149 countries on 25 indicators across six categories: Environmental Health, Air Pollution, Water Resources, Biodiversity and Habitat, Productive Natural Resources, and Climate Change. This method shows how countries are performing on a variety checkpoints.
