Research done in 1997 shows that China is the largest producer of tobacco with about 38% of world total tobacco production. They are followed by the U.S., India, and Brazil.
China produces and consumes the most tobacco in the world. It produced about 2.65 million tons in 2005, almost 3 times as much as the second most tobacco producing country, India.
