Historically, China is the largest grower. China’s 3-year average production for the years 2006 through 2008 was approximately 36 million bales of cotton. India is second, with 23.1 million bales of production for the same time period. The U.S. is third, with average production of 17.9 million bales of cotton for the years 2006 through 2008.
